AN INTIMATE RETREAT IN EL NIDO, PALAWAN

THIS IS NOT A HOTEL. IT IS A STATE OF BEING. Mayara is an intimate retreat shaped by stillness, natural beauty and the living rhythms of Palawan.

Palawan is where the Philippines feels closest to its origin. Limestone islands rise straight from the sea, the forest still holds species found nowhere else, and the light changes without warning. It is not a place designed to impress. It is a place that asks you to pay attention.

SUSTAINABLE

SPACES THAT OPEN.

The upper structures rise like peaks: tall bamboo frames, wide spans, air moving through on every side. These are the spaces for yoga, Pilates, fitness and disciplines such as boxing and Muay Thai — open to the forest, generous in height, built to let the body take up room. The architecture here does not enclose you. It gives you somewhere to expand.

MATERIALS

SPACES THAT HOLD.

Lower down, the buildings settle and close. Massage rooms, sauna and cold plunge sit in the valleys of the complex — smaller volumes, softer light, thicker shade. Bamboo curves inward rather than upward, and sound falls away. Recovery becomes part of the architecture: more private, more intimate, deliberately separated from where effort happens.

SUSTAINABLE

SPACES THAT LISTEN.

Between the two, the complex leaves room for nothing in particular. A shaded platform, a path through the trees, a place to sit after a session and before whatever comes next. These in-between spaces are not secondary — they are where the body catches up with itself. Wellness at Mayara is not a sequence of rooms. It is a landscape you move through at your own pace.

LET IT RAIN.

LET IT RAIN.

In Palawan the rain arrives without warning and leaves the same way. It darkens the bamboo, thickens the air, turns the forest louder than it was a minute ago.

THE SEA IS ALWAYS NEAR.

THE SEA IS ALWAYS NEAR.

El Nido's waters are minutes away: limestone islands rising out of turquoise, lagoons that only open at certain tides, coves reached by nothing but a small boat.

WE HAVE TIME FOR YOU.

WE HAVE TIME FOR YOU.

Sixteen bungalows and a handful of villas mean few guests and a team that is never in a hurry.

NOWHERE TO BE

NOWHERE TO BE

At Mayara, everything is reached on foot. The path to the pool, to the restaurant, to your bungalow — always a little longer than necessary.

WE INVITE YOU

We are a small team, and that is on purpose. Some of us were born in Palawan; others came and stayed. What we share is a way of receiving people: without ceremony, without rush, without pretending to be anyone else. We know which trail catches the best light in the morning, where the fish comes from, which corner of the forest is quietest at four in the afternoon. That knowledge isn't a service — it's simply what happens when you live in a place long enough. Come as you are. We'll take care of the rest. — The Mayara team
